Action picture - 1926 - Game in Roswell

This was one of the indoor games of the era! Notice the stove in the left corner of the gym. Also the basket is on the end line. If you go up for a layup, you could land on the stage. The key was really a key! Only 6' wide and that was normal until the 1950's, Uniforms usually did not have numbers on the front and a digit above 5 was normal. The big square backboards were the only type used before the oval boards came out in the 1940's. The rims were black, and sometimes had a net, but not always. However the game was played with 5 players on each team and baskets were 10' off the ground, same as today.
